Discovery Call
Everything starts with a conversation. It is also a chance for both of us to make sure we are the right fit for each other before anything moves forward.
On-Site Meeting
We come to your home to walk through the existing bathroom together. We are looking at the plumbing layout, the structural conditions, and the real possibilities for the space while listening to your goals and frustrations. We evaluate what is feasible and most cost-effective in person, in your home, with design and construction expertise in the same conversation. We leave with everything we need to put honest numbers together.
Preliminary Budget
After the on-site visit, we put together a preliminary budget based on your vision and what we found in your bathroom. Real numbers, built from real project experience, are delivered before any commitment is made. We give you time to sit with it, ask every question you have, and decide whether you are ready to move forward. There is no pressure from us at any point.
Design
Once you decide to move forward, the design work begins. We develop a full layout and material selection plan specific to your bathroom and your household. With design complete and selections finalized, we lock in a final contract price based on actual materials and confirmed labor. Production and Construction
This is where your bathroom goes from plans to reality. We set up containment from day one to protect the rest of your home while we work, and our crew cleans up at the end of every workday. We are on-site regularly, managing our trusted subcontractor team who handle plumbing, electrical, and other specialty trades. We stay in close contact throughout construction with regular updates, and if something unexpected comes up inside the walls, you hear about it from us directly and right away.
Project Completion

Most bathroom remodels at Knollwood begin with a complete rebuild of the space. What that includes is shaped entirely by your goals and your household, and worked out together during the design phase before construction ever begins. A remodel can include a full layout reconfiguration, new shower or tub installation, plumbing fixture updates, tile throughout, vanity and storage, lighting, electrical updates, and finishes selected specifically for how they hold up over time.
How long will the bathroom remodel take?
Every bathroom remodel is different, and the timeline depends on the scope of your project and the selections involved. For most bathroom remodels, construction runs approximately eight weeks. What we can promise is that you will have a clear, detailed schedule in your hands before work begins and regular updates throughout. You will always know what is happening in your space and what comes next.
Can I stay in my home during a bathroom remodel?
Yes, in most cases. Because most homes have more than one bathroom, a remodel is generally much less disruptive to daily life than a kitchen project. We talk through the timeline and which bathroom will be unavailable during construction well before demo day, so your household can plan accordingly. If you are remodeling multiple bathrooms, we always stagger them so there is a functioning bathroom available throughout the entire process.
Is it possible to move the plumbing?
Sometimes, and it is always worth evaluating. Plumbing feasibility is part of the early discovery process. We look at what is possible in your specific bathroom, what the most cost-effective path is, and whether moving things actually serves your design goals before any direction is set. We will always give you an honest answer about what makes sense and why, rather than defaulting to what is easiest.
Do you remodel multiple bathrooms at once?
We can, and it is not uncommon to tackle more than one bathroom in a home. What we will never recommend is doing all of them simultaneously. We always stagger bathroom projects, so your household always has a functioning bathroom available. The order and timing of multiple bathrooms is something we plan together from the beginning.

Bathrooms have a way of opening up a broader conversation about the home. Once clients are in the process, it is common to add painting in adjacent rooms, door replacements throughout the house, or electrical fixture updates that have been on the list for a while. Knollwood Builders just completed a master bath remodel for us. We could not be more impressed with Sarah and Josh. From the introductory meeting through the design, planning, and work stages the project was as stress-free as could be. Knollwood Builders was nothing short of amazing from the first telephone call to the final inspection. They were professional, timely and did an amazing job. We connected with Knollwood Builders, LLC (Josh Chouinard) last October to provide us with a quote for a remodeling project. From the start my wife and I were impressed. Josh provided us with an initial timely estimate. He mentioned that his wife Sara and he partner on certain projects- he handles construction and she works on providing decorative design choices... paint color/tile, solid-surface style/fixtures. For us, their combination was very effective. We also liked the communication we received. Josh and Sara were both very responsive to our questions returning emails and voice mails. Once we had our selections made Knollwood provided us with a project plan and milestone/payment schedule that was easy to understand. House cleanliness during the project was important. Also we had previous plans to be away during part of the project. Both concerns were shared with Josh and he assured us that they spend time prepping the house before his team goes on site. They also cleaned up daily after project work before they left and did a full detailed cleanup at end of project. We had a very positive experience with Knollwood Builders, LLC. In fact, we already have started to discuss further projects in our home.

We had Knollwood put in a new bay window and replace our old oak railing into updated, beautiful railings! We couldn’t be happier with the work. There was a bit of a delay with the leadtime on the windows, but we are extremely happy with the finished product! You can’t see a nail hole and everything was impeccably done!
We’ve had projects done by other contractors, and although we were also happy with them, Knollwood Builders went above and beyond, and The completed project was better than we ever expected! Josh and Sara clearly pay attention to every detail and it was great working with them!
